San Jose, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, has a rich and varied history that dates back thousands of years. The region was originally inhabited by the Ohlone people and in the late 1700s, Spanish explorers arrived in the region and established several missions, including the Mission Santa Clara de Asis, which was located near present-day San Jose.

     Over time, the region became a hub for agriculture and ranching, with many settlers drawn to the area by the opportunities for farming and ranching. During the mid-1800s, the California Gold Rush led to a surge in population growth, as thousands of people flocked to the region in search of gold.

In the early 1900s, San Jose began to develop into a major urban center, with a thriving downtown area, bustling industries, and a growing population. The city played an important role in the development of the technology industry, with many major tech companies, such as IBM and Hewlett-Packard, establishing headquarters in the area.

In the 50s and 60s, San Jose became a major center for Eichler's home-building, with several of his most notable developments located in the city. One such development was Fairglen, located in the Willow Glen neighborhood, which featured 227 Eichler homes. Another significant Eichler development in San Jose was the San Jose West community, which included over 400 Eichler homes. 

Today, San Jose is a diverse and dynamic city, known for its vibrant cultural scene, beautiful parks and open spaces, and thriving tech industry. Its rich history and unique character make it a fascinating place to explore and discover.
