Menlo Park, California, has a rich history dating back to the 1850s when it was established by Irish immigrants Dennis J. Oliver and D.C. McGlynn. The pair named the town after their hometown in County Galway, Ireland. The town was initially slow to grow until the arrival of the railroad in 1863, which brought new residents and industries to the area. The railroad was responsible for the rapid growth of Menlo Park, making it an important transportation hub. In the 1900s, the city became a center for technology and innovation.
